I’m a National Board Certified teacher with a Master’s in Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Over the past 25 years, I’ve worked across the education landscape — from nonprofit arts organizations in Chicago to 17 years in the classroom. I’ve also led assessment and curriculum initiatives, with a focus on Standards-Based Learning.

Long before I became an educator, I was the youngest skipper at Camp Maplehurst, spending summers sailing dinghies and learning the quiet lessons of the water. Today, with more than 4,000 nautical miles under sail, I still believe the truest insight I’ve gained is this: so much of who we become as adults is shaped by who we were at eight years old.

That understanding informs how I teach, how I lead, and how I see students — not just for who they are, but for who they’re becoming.
